PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Two St. John Fisher University student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference, and one has earned weekly honors from the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC), the respective league offices announced on Monday.
Hannah Ferguson (Sr., Women's Basketball) – Empire 8 Co-Player of the Week
Ferguson scored at least 14 points in each of the St. John Fisher women's basketball team's three E8 victories last week.
Ferguson swished a game-winning 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Cardinals to a 63-62 victory over Houghton on Tuesday. She finished with 14 points while shooting 50 percent from the field, scoring 10 of those in the second half. Ferguson scored 15 points with six rebounds on Friday against Keuka and 13 points with two rebounds, two assists and two steals on Saturday against Elmira.
Ferguson has scored at least 13 points in each of the Cardinals' last seven games.
Sophie Grant (Fr., Women's Ice Hockey) – Empire 8 Player of the Week
Grant helped lead Fisher to a 1-1 weekend against SUNY Canton, highlighted by a standout effort on Saturday. The forward scored two goals in a 3-0 victory, providing the offense the team needed to close the series strong.
Brynn Bacak (Fr., Women's Ice Hockey) – UCHC Women's Goaltender of the Week
Bacak made 32 saves in a 2-1 loss to SUNY Canton on Thursday and 42 in a 3-0 win over the Roos on Saturday. The freshman standout has made 40-plus saves in four games this season.
