PITTSFORD, N.Y. – With five wins by forfeit and four by fall, the St. John Fisher wrestling team made quick work of Elmira for a 57-0 Senior Day victory in the Empire 8 duals on Saturday morning inside the Manning & Napier Varsity Gym. 

The Cardinals improved to 5-1 overall (1-0 SUNYAC) in dual action with the victory. Elmira, which lost to Brockport later in the morning, dropped to 2-9 in duals by the end of the event. 

Senior Carl Santariello (125 pounds) and sophomore Xander Burke (141 pounds) claimed wins by forfeiture to begin the dual, giving Fisher a 12-0 lead. Senior Derek Bernardino (141 pounds) pinned Kolton Brown in two minutes, sophomore Trevor Bishop (149) pinned Victor Hyland in 1:06 and junior Paul Lichter pinned Kaiden Ellis in just 39 seconds to extend the Cardinals' lead to 30-0. 

After junior Evan Salazar won by forfeit at 165 pounds, senior Trevor Sheehan pinned Cache Littrell in 45 seconds to push the Fisher advantage to 42-0. 

Junior Dylan Devine and senior Braydon Vandenberg won by forfeit at 184 and 197 pounds, respectively, before Nathan Coon won the dual's most competitive match. The senior heavyweight prevailed 6-1 by decision over John Robyck, completing the 57-0 drubbing of the Soaring Eagles.

The Cardinals honored Bernardino, Coon, Santariello, Sheehan, Vandenberg, Torin Bishop and Michael Shelhart during a brief Senior Day ceremony prior to the dual. 

Several Fisher wrestlers also competed in exhibition matches throughout the morning against wrestlers from Brockport and Elmira.
