Morrow Surpasses 2,000 Career Assists As Women's Volleyball Beats Middlebury, St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's volleyball team completed a 4-0 weekend in the North Country with a four-set victory over Middlebury and a sweep of St. Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon. Fisher has won six consecutive matches since a season-opening loss to No. 18 Ithaca. 

Senior setter Reilly Morrow amassed 79 assists over the two matches to become the seventh player in program history to surpass 2,000 for her career. She currently ranks seventh on Fisher's all-time assists list with 2,047. 

How It Happened: St. John Fisher 3, Middlebury 1

  • The Cardinals used a 5-0 run to finish off a 25-19 victory in the opening set. Noble led Fisher with seven kills in the frame. 

  • The Cardinals took the second set by the same score and once again scored five consecutive points down the stretch to nail it down. Fisher had six service aces in the set. 

  • Fisher dropped the third set 25-21 but flipped the score in the fourth to secure the match victory. Noble had five kills in that set, and freshman Kalyna Dannenberg had four. 

    Match Notes

  • In another outstanding performance, Noble pounded 21 kills while hitting a scorching .340. She has hit .300 or better in five of the Cardinals' seven matches this season, including in each of the last four. 

  • Noble's 21 kills marked the second most she's had in a match during her collegiate career. 

  • Dannenberg slammed 13 kills and logged her second-highest hitting percentage of the season (.314). She also had a season-high four service aces. 

  • Morrow tallied 45 assists and matched her career high with six service aces. 

  • The Cardinals amassed a season-high 75 digs in the match. Senior libero Kiera Hartpence matched her career high with 24; Dannenberg set a season-high with 23 as part of a double-double. 

  • The Cardinals' 15 service aces marked a season high. 

  • The Cardinals' seven total blocks also marked a season best. Junior Ana Gutman led Fisher with six of them.

  • The Cardinals scored nine of the final 10 points en route to a 25-18 victory in the opening set. 

  • Fisher went on a 7-0 run in the second set to take a nine-point lead, 16-7. Dannenberg had six kills in the 25-16 victory. 

  • The Cardinals secured the sweep with a 25-18 third-set victory. Dannenberg had six more kills in the frame. 

    Match Notes

  • Dannenberg recorded a team-high 14 kills, tying her season high. She logged her highest hitting percentage of the season (.429). 

  • Noble pounded 12 more kills and hit .333. Over four matches this weekend, she had 47 kills. 

  • Gutman had a season-best nine kills and hit .444. 

  • Sophomore Lydia Fraser had five kills and a pair of aces. Her 18 digs marked a career best. 

  • Morrow had 34 assists in the contest. She had 128 over four matches this weekend. 

  • Morrow and senior Madalyn Bouton each had a pair of blocks.
