Women's Volleyball Keeps On Winning, Sweeps Two More Matches Saturday

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's volleyball team swept New Paltz and Kean on Saturday to push its winning streak to 15 matches, the longest winning streak in program history during the rally scoring era (2001-present).

The Cardinals (15-1) have swept 11 of their opponents this season, including seven in a row. 

How it Happened: St. John Fisher 3, New Paltz 0

  • Junior Kaylene Noble led the way for the Cardinals with six kills in a 25-16 victory in the opening set. Senior Reilly Morrow had eleven assists, including on five of Noble's kills. 

  • The Cardinals didn't let up in the second set, with Noble having the hot hand again, recording five kills to spark a dominant 25-12 win. Freshman Kalyna Dannenberg spiked three kills in a seven-point run that put Fisher in command, 22-10. 

  • Sophomore Lydia Fraser tallied four kills and recorded two service aces while Dannenberg racked up four more kills of her own to give the Cardinals the sweep with a 25-19 third-set victory.

Match Notes

  • Noble recorded 13 kills on 23 attempts to register a hitting percentage of .522. She also had 15 digs as part of her fourth double-double of the season. 

  • Fraser slammed 11 kills while hitting .346, while Dannenberg slammed 11 kills and hit .308. Fraser also aced three serves. 

  • Morrow finished the match with 34 assists. 

  • Senior libero Kiera Hartpence recorded 13 digs. 

  • The Cardinals pounded 42 kills and hit .371 as a team, their best collective hitting percentage of the season so far. 

How it Happened: St. John Fisher 3, Kean 0 

  • The Cardinals racked up 24 kills as a team in a wild first set, which they won 31-29. Fraser accounted for nine of those kills and hit .389, and Morrow dished out an incredible 22 assists. 

  • The Cardinals claimed the second set 25-19 behind six kills from Dannenberg and five from Noble. Fraser added three kills. 

  • Noble slammed back-to-back kills to lift the Cardinals to a 25-23 victory in the third set. She finished the frame with six and hit .444. 

Match Notes

  • Morrow finished with a season-high 49 assists, the most by a Fisher player in a three-set match during the rally scoring era. She had 22 in the first set, 13 in the second and 14 in the third. 

  • Morrow has tallied 40 or more assists in 21 career matches, including four this season. 

  • Fraser slammed a season-high 16 kills and logged a .452 hitting percentage. She added 15 digs as part of her second double-double of the season. 

  • Fraser, who accounted for a team-high 18 points, also aced a pair of serves.

  • Noble tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 13 digs. She registered a .324 hitting percentage. 

  • Dannenberg also picked up a double-double, her fourth of the year, with 15 kills and 10 digs. 

  • Hartpence led Fisher with 18 digs. 

  • The Cardinals slammed 56 kills as a team, their most in a three-set match this season.
