Women's Soccer Plays Utica To Scoreless Draw

UTICA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's soccer team played Utica to a scoreless draw on the road on Wednesday night. The result moved the Cardinals to 3-3-2 overall (2-0-1 Empire 8) and the Pioneers to 4-3-2 (1-0-1 Empire 8).

How It Happened

The Cardinals had the majority of the offensive chances in the first 45 minutes, attempting eight shots with five of them on net. Fisher put pressure on the Pioneers about midway through the first half as junior Carli Maltbie and seniors Madelyn Wania and Jackie Gervais each put a shot on target in a span of just over two minutes.

Fisher held Utica to just one shot attempt, which was high, in the first half.

The Cardinals stayed on the attack in the second half, taking seven shots to Utica's three. Senior Jess Gale and junior Francesca Logrippo had on-target shots for the Cardinals.

Fisher senior goalkeeper Avery Byrnes finished the contest with two saves, while Utica's Hannah Pcola made seven stops.
