Field Hockey Powers By Marywood for a 4-1 Victory

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher field hockey team powered past Marywood for a dominating 4-1 victory at Growney Stadium on Sunday afternoon, securing its second win of the season.

How it Happened

  • Just above five minutes in, Sam Current deflected a shot from Alison Taplin to open the scoring. Three minutes later, Taplin got credit for another assist when Holly Stuart tapped in a shot on a penalty corner.

  • The Cardinals maintained their momentum during the second quarter when Current buried her second goal of the contest on a perfect feed from Mary Kate McPhee to give the Cardinals a three-goal lead.

  • Ten minutes into the third quarter, Stuart found Katie Schirrmacher in the circle, where she buried Fisher's fourth and final tally of the day.

  • Marywood got on the board late in the third quarter, but the Cardinals' defense held strong the rest of the way and locked up the 4-1 victory.

Game Notes

  • Current recorded her first collegiate multi-goal game and finished a two-win week with three goals.

  • Schirrmacher scored her first goal since a 10-0 win over Russell Sage on Oct. 22, 2022.
