PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's volleyball team has been named a recipient of an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year, the organization announced on Monday. Established in 1992-93, the award, sponsored by INTENT, honors high school and collegiate volleyball programs across the nation that maintain a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). A record 1,450 programs earned the award this year, according to the AVCA.
The Cardinals, who went 24-9 overall and 4-3 in United Volleyball Conference (UVC) play during the 2025 season, finished the academic year with a 3.56 cumulative GPA. They had 12 student-athletes named to the Empire 8 President's List (including fall and spring), 10 named to the UVC All-Academic Team and two named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Team.
