PITTSFORD, N.Y. – A single-season program record three St. John Fisher women's lacrosse players have been named 2025 Division III All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
Midfielder Sydney Carpenter garnered first-team honors for the second time in her career, while defender Maddie Lowney (second team) and attacker Hanna Kumpf (third team) became first-time IWLCA All-Americans with their selections.
This is the latest accolade in a year filled with them for Carpenter, as she already had been named a first-team All-American by the USA Lacrosse Magazine and a first-team All-Empire Region performer by the IWLCA. She also won the Empire 8 Conference's Midfielder of the Year award.
Arguably the best player in program history, Carpenter (126 assists from 2022-25) passed Jordan Johnson (122 assists from 2014-17) for Fisher's all-time assists record during the 2025 season. She finished her collegiate career five points shy of breaking the Empire 8 career points record, held by former Cardinals star Taylor Hughes (304 points from 2011-14).
Carpenter, now a three-time IWLCA All-American, holds the Empire 8 record in draw controls (504). She ranks fourth in Fisher history in goals scored (174), fifth in caused turnovers (91) and eighth in ground balls (170).
Lowney has also been recognized by several organizations for her impressive 2025 season. She recently earned first-team IWLCA All-Region honors, second-team USA Lacrosse All-America honors and became a two-time recipient of the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year award.
Lowney set Fisher's single-season record for caused turnovers (44), led the team in ground balls (53) and recorded a career-high 75 draw controls, the second most on the team, this spring. The rising senior stands third all-time in Fisher history in career caused turnovers (103), fifth in draw controls (188) and 10th in ground balls (164).
Kumpf finished second on the team in goals (46) and fourth in total points (63) this past season, her last as a Cardinal. She finished her collegiate career with 127 goals (eighth in program history) and 173 total points.
Kumpf was recently named the 2025 Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year. She also earned first-team IWLCA All-Region honors and an honorable mention All-American nod from USA Lacrosse.
The Cardinals, winners of 13 consecutive Empire 8 titles, went 19-1 and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2025.
