VICTOR, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's golf team finished its 2024-25 season on Wednesday in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at the Cobblestone Creek Country Club.
The Cardinals, who finished the chilly, rain-soaked day tied for 35th, missed the cut for the third and fourth rounds, which will be played Thursday and Friday at the Midvale Country Club in Penfield.
In collaboration with the Rochester Sports Commission, St. John Fisher is hosting the DIII championship this week for the second time in the last 10 years. First- and second-round action took place simultaneously at Midvale and Cobblestone on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Graduate senior Nick Tellone began Wednesday tied for fifth place on the individual leaderboard at two under and climbed to second at -4 after recording three birdies early. He hung around in the top 10 until he began to fade back in the middle of the round.
Senior RJ Juodaitis and a trio of freshmen, Nick Years, Robert Fischer and Colin Patterson, also competed in the national tournament for the Cardinals.
The tournament began with 43 teams and 10 individual qualifiers. It was trimmed down to 18 teams and the top six players not on one of those teams by Wednesday evening.
Illinois Wesleyan leads the team race at +19, and Will Karkoc of Bethel (Minn.) stands atop the individual standings at six under par.
