PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher baseball team tallied 41 runs and 32 hits in its two wins against Alfred University in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Dugan Yard. The Cardinals improved to 16-13 overall and 11-4 in conference play.
Game 1: St. John Fisher 17, Alfred 1
Ethan Fulton started the game on the mound and earned the victory for the Cardinals, going five innings, allowing three hits and only one run.
Jordan Perry and Brendan Bucello each tallied three hits. Bucello had a triple and an RBI, Perry had two RBI.
Mario Cubello and Ryan Vanderlip tallied two hits apiece. Cubello tallied two RBI and Vanderlip had a team-high four RBI, three of which came on a bases-clearing double in the fifth inning.
The Cardinals scored in every frame but the third inning, with the big blow coming in the fifth, when they scored eight runs.
Game 2: St. John Fisher 24, Alfred 5
The Cardinals tallied 19 total hits in the game, with seven players tallying multiple hits.
Jackson Frey and Scott Sleurs had three hits apiece. Sleurs hit his first career home run and tallied four RBI.
Vanderlip hit his first career home run and drove in four RBI. He drove in eight total runs over the two games.
Ethan Perry hit a two-run home run, and Dominic Guccia and Austin Droge both had doubles.
Patrick McGuire earned the win, throwing 3.1 innings of relief. Joshua Ferris and Enzo Natale each threw a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. Natale tallied three strikeouts in his first career inning.
