PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Five St. John Fisher student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Empire 8, the conference office announced on Monday.
Ainsley Evanetski (Senior, Softball) – Empire 8 Pitcher of the Week x3
Evanetski struck out a career-high 18 batters in a 7-2 victory over Elmira on Saturday and followed that performance with an even better one on Sunday.
Evanetski, in a 4-0 victory over Keuka, didn't allow anyone to reach base as part of her first collegiate perfect game. She struck out 14 of the 21 batters she faced, including the first 10 in a row.
Over the last four games, Evanetski has struck out 60 of the 86 batters she's faced. She's allowed just three runs on nine hits and three walks.
The Cardinals swept both Elmira and Keuka to push their winning streak to seven.
Emily McManus (Sophomore, Softball) – Empire 8 Co-Player of the Week x3
McManus went 9-for-12 at the plate and drove in eight runs in Fisher's four games over the weekend. She hit a solo home run in Fisher's first game against Elmira on Saturday and drilled a three-run homer in the second game against Keuka on Sunday.
McManus has 10 home runs, tied with teammate Mari Spitz for the most in the Empire 8, through 25 games. She leads the conference in RBI with 30.
Sydney Carpenter (Senior, Women's Lacrosse) – Empire 8 Player of the Week x3
Carpenter scored six goals and tallied seven assists for 13 total points in wins over SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Poly last week. She also won 15 draw controls, picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover.
Against Geneseo, Carpenter amassed six points (four goals, two assists) to move past Jordan Johnson (279 points from 2014-17) for second on the program's all-time points list.
With five assists in a 27-0 victory over SUNY Poly on Saturday, Carpenter pushed her career total to 122, tying Johnson for the most in program history. She also scored twice in the contest en route to seven total points.
Brady Mason (Senior, Men's Lacrosse) – Empire 8 Co-Player of the Week
Mason (six goals, one assist) amassed seven total points, tied for the second most he's had in a single game in his collegiate career, in a 17-5 win over SUNY Geneseo last Wednesday.
In a 32-7 win over SUNY Poly on Saturday, Mason had three goals and one assist to pass Mitch Ritchie (162 career points) for 10th on the program's all-time points list. Mason now has 163 career points.
Tyler Manning (Junior, Men's Lacrosse) – Empire 8 Goalie of the Week x4
Manning was tremendous between the pipes in St. John Fisher's win over SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday, stopping 11 shots and allowing just five goals, recording a .688 save percentage, as the Cardinals remained unbeaten in league play. He also allowed just one goal in 30 minutes of action against SUNY Poly on Saturday.
