PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's and women's track and field teams begin the indoor season on Friday in the Nazareth Alumni Opener at the Golisano Training Center.
Athletes To Watch (Men)
Brandon Kaplan (Sr., Throws) – Kaplan set the school record in the weight throw last season with a mark of 17.99 meters in the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up. He placed first in the event in the Empire 8 Conference championship meet and fourth in the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) meet.
Hayden Penna (Jr., Pole Vault) – Penna set the men's program's indoor pole vault record with a mark of 4.72 meters in the Nazareth Alumni Opener Invite last December. He placed first in the event in the E8 indoor championships for the second year in a row (4.60m) and took fourth in the AARTFC meet.
Corinthian Reed (So., Sprints) – Reed had several strong performances last indoor season, as he placed fourth in the 200-meter run (22.35 seconds) and ninth in the 400-meter run (50.36 seconds) in the E8 championship meet. He was also part of Fisher's 4x400-meter relay team that placed second in the conference meet (3:23.44) and ninth in the regional meet (3:22.11).
Athletes To Watch (Women)
Caitlin Voloshen (Sr., Distance) – Voloshen set the women's program's indoor record in the mile with a third-place time of 4:59.77 in the AARTFC meet last winter. She has also excelled for the Cardinals in the 800-meter run, placing fifth and setting a program indoor record in the event in the E8 championship meet last February with a time of 2:18.27.
Kathryn Hillyard (So., Pole Vault) – Hillyard matched her school indoor record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.47 meters in the AARTFC meet last winter. She also competed in the high jump during her freshman indoor season, setting a personal record with a mark of 1.63 meters in the Ithaca Invite.
Victoria Rogoyski (So., Multi) – Rogoyski set the women's program's indoor pentathlon record with a mark of 2731 last season in the Empire 8 Indoor championships. Her performance included top-10 finishes in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800-meter run events.
