PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) coordinated a highly successful 'Cardinals Team Up To Tackle Hunger' food drive in November.

The food drive, which ran from Nov. 1-21, brought in nearly 190 pounds of food. All donations benefited the nearby Brighton Food Cupboard, which serves residents in the 1460, 14610, 14618 and 14620 zip codes, anyone served by another Jewish Family Services (JFS) Rochester program and any Jewish resident in Monroe County who is financially eligible.

"The support we receive from our community inspires us every single day, and this food drive allows us to give something meaningful back," SAAC member and women's tennis student-athlete Tiana Buttino said. "Our student athletes, coaches and staff have come together with a shared commitment to support those experiencing food insecurity. We believe in the power of service, leadership and community engagement, and this year's drive is a reflection of those values in action. Through this effort, we hope to bring comfort, relief and hope to families who need it most. Service remains one of the core pillars of our athletics department, and initiatives like this remind us what it truly means to lead with purpose and impact."
