PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Two St. John Fisher University student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference.
Natalie Mai (Freshman, Women's Basketball) – Empire 8 Rookie of the Week
Mai led the Cardinals with 23 points while shooting 7-of-15 overall, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range, and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in a 60-51 victory over SUNY Morrisville on the road last Tuesday. She also dished out a team-high seven assists in the win, Fisher's first of the season.
This marks Mai's first time earning E8 weekly honors.
Sam Ciappa (Freshman, Men's Ice Hockey) – Empire 8 Player of the Week (x2)
Ciappa, now a two-time E8 Player of the Week honoree, scored two goals to lead the Cardinals to a 4-1 victory over Albertus Magnus at the Rochester Ice Center on Friday night. He scored his third goal of the weekend in a 2-1 loss to Albertus Magnus on Saturday evening.
