Ainsley Evanetski Throws Perfect Game In Softball's Sunday Sweep Of Keuka

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher senior pitcher Ainsley Evanetski threw her first collegiate perfect game in a doubleheader sweep of Keuka College on Sunday afternoon at the SJF Softball Complex.

Evanetski struck out 14 of the 21 batters she faced, including the first 10 in a row, in Fisher's 4-0 victory in the first game of the day. The Cardinals have had a pitcher throw a perfect game in each of the last three seasons.

Evanetski, who has struck out 60 of the 86 batters she's faced over her last four games, earned her seventh pitching victory of the season.

The Cardinals (16-9, 9-1 Empire 8), winners of seven straight games, completed the twin-bill sweep with a 12-0, five-inning victory in the second game.

Game 1: St. John Fisher 4, Keuka 0

The Cardinals scored one run in the first and three in the second, and that's all Evanetski needed as he breezed through the Keuka lineup.

Senior Maddie Donlin doubled to right center with one out in the top of the first and scored on sophomore Emily McManus's two-out double down the left field line.

After seniors Amalia DeMartino (double) and Tori LoPresto (single) reached to start the bottom of the second inning, senior Cassidy Evanetski blasted her second home run of the season to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead.

Donlin, McManus, DeMartino, LoPresto and sophomore Taylor Shackleton each collected two hits in the ballgame.

Game 2: St. John Fisher 12, Keuka 0

McManus went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in four runs as the Cardinals made quick work of Keuka in the second game of the day.

McManus, DeMartino, LoPresto and senior Katie Mannis singled in runs as the Cardinals put up a four spot in the bottom half of the first inning.

McManus and Spitz drilled back-to-back home runs in the second, with McManus's being a three-run shot to left center, to extend Fisher's lead to seven runs. The two sluggers remain tied for the team and Empire 8 lead with 10 home runs.

The Cardinals pushed across one run in the third and three more in the fourth, two of which came on freshman Maddy Schubach's first collegiate home run.

Senior pitcher Cassidy Ormond allowed two hits, issued one walk and struck out three batters in four innings en route to her seventh victory of the season.
