CLEARWATER, Fla. – Senior Hanna Kumpf, junior Kaley Griffin and sophomore Ellie Leisen each scored four goals to lead the No. 25 St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team to a 22-12 victory over Washington College (Md.) on Sunday afternoon at Philip Jones Stadium.
The Cardinals improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2021 when they lost just twice all season and reached the NCAA Division III Semifinals. Washington College, which lost its fifth consecutive game, dropped to 1-5 overall.
How It Happened

The Cardinals wasted no time leaving Washington College behind, as they led 10-3 after the first period. Kumpf and senior Mary Fiorentino each scored three times and tallied assists in the first 15 minutes of action.

The Cardinals led by 10, 15-5, at the break after Leisen and sophomore Chelsea Lopata scored twice in the second quarter. Senior Sydney Carpenter had the other Fisher tally in the quarter, scoring her first of three goals in the contest while the Cardinals were a woman down.

Griffin, who scored her first goal in the opening quarter, found the back of the net three times in the second half. She scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter to give Fisher a 17-5 lead and added her final tally late in the fourth quarter.

Kumpf buried her fourth goal of the game early in the fourth quarter to give the Cardinals a 20-8 lead.

The Cardinals' 22 goals marked a season high. They have scored 20 or more in two of their four games.

Leisen, who also had two assists, set career-highs in goals (4) and total points (6). She's scored seven times and piled up nine points over the last two games.

Kumpf and Griffin each tallied five points with four goals and an assist. Carpenter also had five points, scoring three times and dishing out two assists.

Kumpf, who's scored at least twice in each of Fisher's first four games, recorded her second four-goal game of the season.

Seniors Emma Biel and Farrah Zalla each scored once. Biel also recorded a season-best four assists.
