DAVENPORT, Fla. – The St. John Fisher baseball team used a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to secure an 8-5 victory over Anderson (Ind.) on Wednesday at Lake Myrtle Park. The Cardinals improved to 4-3 on the season, while Anderson dropped to 5-4.
How It Happened
Fisher struck first in the top of the second, as Jack Griffin singled and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Jake Crantz. Ethan Fulton followed with an RBI triple, giving Fisher an early 2-0 lead.
Anderson responded in the bottom of the third two runs to tie the game, but Fisher reclaimed the lead in the fourth inning when Crantz doubled home Griffin to put the Cardinals up 3-2.
The Cardinals gave themselves some breathing room in the sixth inning. Jackson Frey stole home on a double steal, and Fulton crushed a two-run homer to center field, extending the lead to 6-2.
In the seventh, Fisher added two more runs, as Griffin scored on a balk and Michael Bowler drew a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to 8-2.
Anderson made things interesting in the ninth, scoring three runs, but Alex Lang forced a flyout to end the game, sealing the win for Fisher.

Fulton, an ABCA second-team All-Region pick last season, led the way offensively. He went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBI.
