Baseball Falls To Keystone

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The St. John Fisher baseball team scored twice in the ninth but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 6-2 to Keystone on Thursday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park. The Cardinals dropped to 4-4 on the season, while Keystone improved to 3-0.

How It Happened

After three scoreless innings, Keystone broke through with four runs in the fourth, highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Andy Rivas. Keystone extended its lead to 6-0 in the seventh, tacking on two runs on an error and a fielder's choice.

Fisher, held scoreless for eight innings, finally got on the board in the bottom of the ninth. Jackson Frey reached on an error, and Brendan Bucello was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. After a flyout, Ethan Perry struck out swinging before Noah Pohrte delivered with an RBI single to score Frey. Jordan Perry followed with a single that brought home Bucello to cut the deficit to 6-2. However, Keystone escaped further damage, closing out the game with a strikeout.
