Baseball Drops First Of Two Against RIT

HENRIETTA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher baseball team (5-6) had its seven-game winning streak against RIT snapped with a 12-6 loss to the Tigers on Friday at the RIT Baseball Complex. 

How It Happened

  • RIT jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a scoreless first two innings on the mound from Patrick McGuire. Back-to-back singles scored two runs in the third frame for the Tigers. 

  • In the 4th, a Jake Crantz single drove in Andrew Roman. Jimmy McCardle ripped a base-clearing triple down the line to score three runs and give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead. 

  • RIT put together a four-run 6th inning and added one more in the seventh to take a 7-4 lead. The Tigers ripped the game open with five runs in the eighth. 

Game Notes

  • Jake Crantz tallied three of the Cardinals' seven hits on the day, including a two-run home run in the eighth inning. 

  • Patrick McGuire started the game on the mound and went three innings, allowing 2 runs.

  • Joshua Ferris threw one scoreless inning for the Cardinals in relief.
