BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's basketball team's difficult season continued on Saturday, as it fell 96-80 to SUNY Brockport at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium for its sixth consecutive loss.
The Cardinals fell to 6-16 overall (2-11 Empire 8), while the Golden Eagles improved to 14-8 (12-1 Empire 8) with their seventh win in a row and moved one step closer to wrapping up the top seed for the conference tournament.

Senior forward Eric Kegler scored eight points in the first three minutes as the Cardinals raced out to a 10-0 lead.

Brockport responded with a swift 12-0 run to take a 12-10 lead and never trailed again in the contest. The Golden Eagles led by eight, 48-40, at halftime.

The Golden Eagles pushed their lead to as many as 22 as they ran away from the Cardinals in the second half. Five players – Alex Tavarez (15 points), Mekhi Beckett (14), Zach Rice (12), Tony Arnold (11) and Jakhi Lucas – scored in double figures.

Kegler finished with 23 points – the second most in his career – and shot 7 of 14 from the field and 9 of 11 from the foul line.

Senior forward Connor Williams scored 18 points while shooting 5 of 13 (2 of 3 from three) and 6 of 7 from the free throw line. Williams, averaging a career-high 15.5 points per game this season, has scored 10-plus points in 18 of the Cardinals' 23 contests.

Junior forward Louis Fay scored eight points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds.

Brockport outscored Fisher by 14, 27-13, off turnovers. The Cardinals turned the ball over 15 times.

Brockport shot 51.7% from three (15-29), while Fisher struggled at 26.1% (6 of 23). The Golden Eagles shot nearly 60% overall; the Cardinals shot just over 38%.
