PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's basketball team snapped its five-game losing streak on Friday night with a wire-to-wire 97-71 victory over Hartwick College at the Manning and Napier Varsity Gym.
The Cardinals improved to 7-16 overall (3-11 Empire 8) and completed the season sweep of the Hawks, who fell to 3-2 overall (3-11 Empire 8). Fisher has now won 14 straight games against Hartwick.
How It Happened

The Cardinals, who never trailed in the contest, opened up a 12-point lead in the first half and never looked back. Senior forward Erick Kegler and senior guard Cole Thompson scored six points apiece in the first 20 minutes.

Fisher went on a 33-12 run that lasted about six minutes in the second half to take an 87-60 lead. Sophomore Jonathan McCaffrey scored 12 of his career-high 14 points during that stretch.

The Cardinals eventually led by as many as 31 points in the second half.

The Cardinals dominated the Hawks in the paint, outscoring them 50-25 in that category. They also finished with a 15-8 advantage off turnovers and a 15-7 advantage off second chances.

The Cardinals' 97 points marked a season-high. It was their third game this season with 90-plus points (they scored 96 against Elmira on Jan 25 and 92 against Union on Nov. 26).

The Cardinals shot a season-best 59.6% from the field (34 of 57) and tied their season-high in free throws made (21 of 30).

The Cardinals shot 40% (8 of 20) from three, tied for their third-highest 3-point shooting percentage in a game this season.

Senior guard Christian Daley scored a career-high six points, knocking down a pair of 3-point shots in the second half.
