Women's Ice Hockey Suffers 3-2 OT Loss In Home Opener Saturday

FAIRPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's ice hockey team (2–2) fell 3–2 in overtime to William Smith (2–0) in Saturday's home opener at the Rochester Ice Center.

How It Happened
Fisher struck first less than two minutes into the game. At 1:48 of the opening period, Erin Lantry set up freshman Josie Palumbo, who scored her first collegiate goal to give the Cardinals a 1–0 lead. William Smith tied the game later in the period at 12:18 when Bella Hacker converted at even strength, sending the teams into the first intermission tied 1–1.

Fisher regained the lead midway through the second period. At 9:49, Ellie Prantner scored on the power play off a pass from Sophie Grant and Keira Reckley, putting the Cardinals ahead 2–1 after two periods.

William Smith evened the score late in regulation at 16:40 of the third period on a goal from Ainsley Lonczak, forcing overtime. Just 1:06 into the extra period, Seneca Urban scored for the Herons to secure the 3–2 final.

Goaltender Brynn Bacak finished with 26 saves for Fisher.
