PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Two St. John Fisher University student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference.
Avery McLaughlin (Sophomore, Field Hockey) – Empire 8 Co-Offensive Player of the Week
McLaughlin tallied eight points on three goals and two assists in St. John Fisher's wins over Brockport and Houghton last week.
In the No. 4-seeded Cardinals' 5-2 victory over No. 5-seeded Houghton in the first round of the E8 postseason tournament on Saturday, she scored twice and tallied an assist as part of a five-point performance. She has amassed five or more points in four games this season, including in two of the last three.
McLaughlin leads the Cardinals in goals (12) and total points (32). With one more point, she would tie Stacie Skidmore and Elizabeth Cusack for 10th on Fisher's single-season points list.
This marks McLaughlin's first time earning E8 Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Brynn Bacak (Freshman, Women's Ice Hockey) – Empire 8 Goaltender of the Week
Bacak totaled 39 saves while leading the Cardinals to a pair of wins over Neumann over the weekend.
Bacak stopped 22 shots on Friday in a 2-1 victory, the first win in program history. On Saturday, she made 17 saves in a 3-0 victory, the Cardinals' first-ever shutout.
