Women's Soccer Dominates Keuka on Senior Day, Wins 8-0

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Four seniors scored goals to lead the St. John Fisher women's soccer team to an 8-0 drubbing of Keuka on Senior Night at Growney Stadium on Saturday.

The Cardinals, locked in as the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Empire 8 Conference Tournament, improved to 9-4-2 overall and 8-1-1 in conference play. Keuka dropped to 1-10-4 overall and 1-7-2 in league play.

Fisher's group of nine seniors honored prior to the match included Avery Byrnes, Jackie Gervais, Madelyn Wania, Maddy Jackson, Abby Fagnani, Jess Gale, Brooklyn Drago, Ryann Dauksza and Carmen Jorgensen. Wania led Fisher with five points on two goals and an assist in the contest, while Gervais, Drago and Dauksza found the back of the net one time apiece. Drago also had an assist.

In net, Byrnes faced just two shots and stopped both as she recorded her fifth shutout of the season. Fisher has nine overall clean sheets this season, tied for the team's most under head coach Molly Romano, who took charge of the program before the 2019 season.

How It Happened
Fisher wasted no time setting the tone. Drago opened the scoring in the sixth minute off an assist from Emily Woolingham

Woolingham followed with a goal of her own in the 31st minute, assisted by Wania, before Wania found the back of the net just moments later to make it 3-0 at the break.

The Cardinals stayed aggressive in the second half, with Wania striking again in the 47th minute to extend the lead. Olivia Kalil, Gervais, Dauksza and freshman Ava Quintern each added goals down the stretch.

Fisher outshot Keuka 29-2 and held a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
