Hartwick Tops Field Hockey 5-1

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team fell to Hartwick College, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals dropped to 7-6 overall (5-2 Empire 8 Conference), while Hartwick improved to 8-5 (7-1 Empire 8 Conference).

How it Happened

After Hartwick took a 1-0 lead into halftime on Kayla Kinkle's second-quarter goal, the Cardinals tied the game up early in the third quarter on senior Katie Schirrmacher's second tally of the season.

The Hawks responded quickly, though, as Kendal Wooley scored less than a minute later to start a string of four unanswered goals.

Just over a minute into the fourth quarter, Katleyn Klotz extended Hartwick's lead to 3-1. Carolin Aspuru added another less than two minutes later, and with under nine minutes remaining, Kinkle netted her second of the day to seal the 5-1 win for the Hawks.

Game Notes

  • Fisher sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Parrinell made 10 saves, the second most she's recorded in a collegiate game.
