PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University wrestling team won nine of 10 matches in a 43-3 drubbing of Pittsburgh Bradford on Wednesday night in its first home dual of the season at Manning and Napier Varsity Gym.
The Cardinals improved to 5-2 overall in dual action, while the Panthers dropped to 6-10 with their fourth loss in their last six duals.
The Cardinals racked up six bonus-point wins with three victories by fall, three by technical fall and one by major decision.
Fisher won the first six matches in the dual, starting with Daniel Parkulo's 7-2 decision over Cael Dailey at 125 pounds. Derek Bernardino followed by pinning Cade Stern at 133 pounds to give the Cardinals a 9-0 lead.
At 141, Trevor Bishop beat Dylan Slovick 13-1 by major decision. Justin Coiteux fought for a 6-1 decision at 149 pounds before Paul Lichter beat Raymond Worsen Jr. in the 157-pound bout 15-0 by technical fall, pushing the Cardinals' lead to 21-0.
Dylan Devine extended that lead further (27-0) when he pinned Mamady Traore in the 165-pound match. The Panthers earned their lone win of the night in the next match (174 pounds), as DJ Slovick beat Otto Davidson for a hard-fought 4-1 decision.
The Cardinals finished the dual with a string of bonus-point wins to tack on 16 more points. Charlie Rossner pinned Braxton Caldwell at 184, Braydon Vandenberg beat Alex Kapacs by 21-6 technical fall at 197 and Jackson Burns took down Gavin Thompson 17-2 by technical fall at 285.
The Cardinals honored Parkulo, Davidson and Adam Grover during a Senior Night ceremony before the dual.
