PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher volleyball team won three straight sets after dropping the first en route to a 3-1 win Friday night at Manning and Napier Varsity Gym.
The Cardinals, who played 12 straight road or neutral contests to start the season before Friday's home opener, improved to 7-6 overall. They will play 11 straight Empire 8 games starting next Friday at SUNY Brockport.

Johnson & Wales won the first set 25-20, while Fisher took the second 25-19, the third 25-23 and the fourth 25-23.

Freshman outside hitter Lydia Fraser had a team-high 12 kills. It was her third straight game with double-digit kills.

Fraser has had at least 10 kills in eight of Fisher's 13 contests this season.

Sophomore Kaylene Noble had eight kills, while fellow sophomore Emma Lawler had seven.

Lawler posted a .385 hitting percentage. Sophomore Ana Gutman finished with a .400 hitting percentage and had six kills.

Gutman has hit better than .300 in seven of the Cardinals' 13 matches this season.

Gutman recorded another block to push her season total to 22, the most on the team. She has seven solo blocks and 15 assists.

Junior setter Reilly Morrow had 35 assists. It was her fifth match this season with more than 30.

The Cardinals finished with a 14-11 advantage in service aces. Freshman Kate Gernold led the team with a four, a career-high.

The Cardinals face SUNY Brockport at 6 p.m. next Friday, Oct. 4, in Brockport. They host Geneseo on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals are 8-10 against Brockport since 2008 but have won the last three meetings. All three of those matches went five sets.

Fisher is 10-13 against Geneseo since 2005. The Cardinals' last victory in the series was a three-set sweep in 2021.
