Women's Volleyball Sweeps Pitt-Bradford To Open Bengal Challenge

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's volleyball team began its weekend at the Bengal Challenge with a dominant 3-0 win over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at Buffalo State University's Sports Arena. 

Match Notes

  • The Cardinals won each set by at least eight points, taking the first one 25-10, the second 25-17 and the third 25-9. 

  • The Cardinals (5-5) snapped a two-match losing streak and pulled back to .500 on the season with the victory. 

  • The Cardinals had 35 more kills than Pitt-Bradford (43-8) in the match. The Cardinals posted a .272 hitting percentage as a team, their second-highest this season. 

  • Sophomore outside hitter Kaylene Noble had 17 kills, a season-high. Noble hit .333. 

  • Noble also set a season-high with 19 total points. 

  •  Freshman outside hitter Lydia Fraser had nine kills and hit .348. She also had 10 digs. 

  • Sophomore middle blocker Ana Gutman had five kills and finished with a perfect hitting percentage (1.000).

  • Junior setter Reilly Morrow had a match-high 32 assists. 

  • Junior libero Kiera Hartpence had a team-best 16 digs. 

  • Freshman Kate Gernold recorded a career-high three service aces. Fisher had seven aces as a team. 

Up Next

  • Fisher faces Capital at 11:30 a.m. and Buffalo State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. 

  • Fisher is 0-2 all-time against Capital. Saturday's match will mark the first between the programs since 2019. 

  • The Cardinals have won eight consecutive matches against Buffalo State. They are 17-6 in the series since 2005.
