PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's soccer team (0-1-1) and the Hobart Statesmen (0-0-1) played to a draw on Sunday evening at Growney Stadium as neither side could find the back of the net.
Hobart logged 13 shots (six on goal), while Fisher had eight shots and put three on net. The Cardinals outshot the Statesmen 6-3 in the second half.
Hobart had the game's best scoring chance late in the first half, and Cardinals goalkeeper Christian Burkhart made an incredible save – and the best play of the day – to keep the game tied. Hobart's Frederick Madsen fired a rocket that deflected off a Fisher defender and into the air. As the ball came down toward him, Burkhart, slightly out of the net, scrambled to make the save while diving backward.
Burkart, a graduate student, six total saves in the contest while playing all 90 minutes. Hobart's Tommy Chyzowych made three stops.
Trevor Heschke, Ryan Brown and Joey Avallone had the Cardinals' shots on goal.
