PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University baseball team completed its out-of-conference schedule on Wednesday, defeating SUNY Brockport 11-6
The Cardinals were propelled by a seven-run second inning that included a two-RBI single by sophomore pitcher/DH Benjamin Huckans. The Amsterdam native later added another RBI with a double in the fourth, and he also stole two bases. On the mound, Huckans pitched 3.2 innings for the no-decision.
Brockport stormed back, closing the gap to as little as 7-5 in the fourth inning, but late runs by the Cardinals as well as good pitching by Fisher relievers Cam Kingsley (three hitless innings) and Anthony Lang (scoreless ninth) held them off.
Freshman Jackson Frey, graduate student Brian Norsen, and sophomore Jake Crantz all had two hits and an RBI at the plate, while senior Nick Lemire had a two-RBI double and senior Andrew Roman also drove in one.
The Cardinals finish their regular season over the weekend with a trio of games against conference foe Alfred. Game one is Saturday, May 4, at 1 P.M.
