Baseball falls twice to Oswego State despite two-homer day for Norsen

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Oswego State on Tuesday, despite two home runs by graduate student Brian Norsen.

GAME 1: Oswego State 20, Fisher 14

The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but fell behind in the bottom of the inning, 4-2, and never came back, despite scoring 10 runs over the last two innings of the slugfest.

Norsen led the way, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, including home runs in the seventh and eighth. Senior James Murphy had three hits including a double while driving in two runs and stealing a base. Seniors Nick Lemire and Andrew Roman also knocked in a run a piece.

GAME  2: Oswego State 11, Fisher 1 (Seven innings)

Sophomore Noah Pohrte drove in the lone run for Fisher in the second game of the doubleheader, singling home freshman Matthew Arnold in the seventh. Senior Ethan Perry, junior Dominic Guccia, and junior Jimmy McArdle had the other hits for the Cardinals, with McArdle stealing a bag.

Freshman Robert Leach did well in relief, going two innings of scoreless ball while allowing two hits and striking out one.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, April 13, at Keuka for a doubleheader with their Empire 8 foe. First pitch of game one is 1:00 P.M.
