HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's tennis team earned their first win of the season against Alfred University. The Cardinals were able to take control early and secure the win, 6-3, moving their record to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
After dropping the first doubles match, the duo of
Tyler Hernandez and
Will Chubb won 8-4 before
Mika'il Iqbal and
Ryan Wilson helped the team take two of the three doubles matches. Hernandez continued the momentum in the singles matches, winning 6-0. 6-1. Wilson fed off his teammate and won his match 6-1, 6-1. Chubb had competitive sets, but still earned the win 6-4, 6-3. After a couple of lost singles,
Zach DeCaro ended the day on a high note with a win in his singles match in straight sets.
Up next for the Cardinals is a contest against Houghton University on Saturday, April 13. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time.
