PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher baseball team beat the Elmira College Soaring Eagles on Saturday at Dugan Yard, 12-1, in a 7-inning run rule game.
The Cardinals scored all their runs across three innings- the first, fourth, and sixth- and never trailed. Junior Dominic Guccia and sophomore Ethan Fulton each had three RBI, while graduate student Brian Norsen and sophomore Benjamin Huckans each had two. Norsen led the team with three hits: an RBI double in the first, a single in the fourth, and an RBI single as part of a five-run sixth.
On the mound, senior Patrick McGuire earned his first win of the season by going four innings while allowing just one earned run on four hits. The Ballston Lake native struck out four on the day before giving way to graduate student Hunter Walsh, who struck out four batters of his own as he notched a three-inning one-hit save.
The Cardinals continue their series with their Empire 8 foe from Elmira on Sunday, April 7, in a doubleheader. Game 1 starts at 12:30 P.M.
