KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's lacrosse team were on the road on Wednesday for an Empire 8 matchup against Keuka College. The Cardinals erupted for nine goals in the first quarter and they rode that momentum to a 20-3 win.
Farrah Zalla kicked off the scoring under a minute into the game, and that was followed by a pair of scores by
Sydney Carpenter to make it 3-0 five minutes in.
Hanna Kumpf,
Mary Fiorentino,
Chelsea Lopata,
Ellie Leisen and
Dharma Makarowsky all scored in the first quarter, with Kumpf adding a second in the final minute. Fisher led 9-0 after one period of action. In the second,
Emma Biel scored her first of the game, before Lopata tallied her second. After Keuka scored their first goal of the evening,
Alivia Nieman makes the game 12-1 going into halftime.
Coming out the break, the goal scoring continued with Carpenter and Kumpf securing hattricks.
Sydney Closinski tallied her first of the day and Makarowsky recorded her second to make the score 16-2 heading into he final quarter. In the fourth,
Kaley Griffin,
Taylor Maxam and
Megan McGrath each secured their first goals of the game and Lopata capped off her hattrick. The Cardinals finished the day with a 20-3 win.
Carpenter led the way with three goals and four assists for seven points, while secured 11 draw controls. Kumpf and Lopata each tallied three goals and one assists to total four points a piece.
