Baseball falls in slugfest to Sage, 9-7

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University baseball team fell to Sage College on Friday, 9-7, at home.

The Cardinals, down 2-1 in the seventh, surged ahead 7-2 with a six-run bottom of the seventh, including a grand slam by freshman Jackson Frey. However, the Sage Gators responded with a seven-run eighth to move ahead 9-7. The Cardinals got the tying run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth, but were unable to score.

Senior Nick Lemire and graduate student Brian Norsen each had two hits, a walk, and two RBI, while junior Jimmy McArdle had an RBI double.

On the mound, Ethan Fulton ended with a no-decision, going over seven innings while allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out nine.
