Baseball falls to Brockport in non-conference matchup

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University baseball team fell to SUNY Brockport in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, 3-2.

The Cardinals fell behind early to the Golden Eagles, giving up runs in the first and second, but tied it up thanks to a sacrifice fly by sophomore Jake Crantz in the fourth and an RBI single by senior James Murphy in the seventh. Brockport pulled ahead for good in the bottom of the seventh on a bunt single by Jason Mansell.

Senior shortstop Nick Lemire went 2-for-3 with two walks in the defeat, including a triple that set up the Crantz sacrifice fly. Senior Andrew Roman had his first double of the season. On the mound, sophomore Benjamin Huckans went six innings, allowing four hits and an earned run while striking out five.

The Cardinals return home on Wednesday, April 24, to host RIT. First pitch is 4:00 P.M.
