PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University softball team hosts Elmira this Saturday for a Senior Day doubleheader, where the Cardinals will put their perfect Empire 8 record on the line against the Soaring Eagles.

Here's what you need to know:

Last Time Out
The Cardinals rained out at Oswego State on Wednesday, but swept a doubleheader with SUNY Fredonia a day before, 9-1 and 6-0. In the second game, junior Cassidy Ormond brought a no-hitter into the seventh and final inning for her ninth win of the season.

Know Your Foe
Elmira enters the weekend 7-11, including an 0-2 mark in conference play. They are led in the circle by Shelby Dawe, who is second in the conference in opponent batting average (.193) and sixth in ERA (2.91). At the plate, the Eagles' top hitter is Brianna Ramstine, who holds a .910 OPS

The Cardinals are 28-6 since 2006 against the Eagles, winning nine of their last 10 games. The teams split last season's series, 1-1, in Elmira. Fisher has only lost to Elmira once at home since 2006- that was back in 2013.

Fun fact: Mark Twain wrote some of his most famous novels on what is now the Elmira campus.

Salute to Seniors
Saturday is Senior Day for two Fisher seniors: catcher Maddie Nadrich and third baseman Kelly Cournoyer.

Madrich, a native of East Amherst, is a four-year member of the softball team who has scored 16 times for the Cardinals.

Another four-year member of the team, Cournoyer has played in 84 games, starting 73 of them. In her career at Fisher, she's hit three home runs with 42 RBIs with a batting average of .269.

Freshman Hitting It Far
Freshman Emily McManus has quickly become one of the best power-hitters in the Empire 8, leading both the team and the conference with seven home runs so far. Another long-ball would put her in the program's top 10 for home runs in a season, and she's already tied last year's team home run leader, Allie Klonowski

Emily is also second in the conference in OPS (1.342) and slugging (.842).

What Comes Next
Fisher continues the season on Monday, April 22, hosting out-of-conference foe Clarkson University for a doubleheader. Game 1 starts at 3:00 P.M.
