PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher junior pitcher Molly Kuhn, senior catcher Isabella Mahar and junior infielder Taylor Shackleton have been named to the All-Tournament Team for the 2026 Empire 8 Conference Softball Championship.
Additionally, junior Rachel Stabler received the Empire 8 Torchbearer Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) participating in the championship game for each E8 sport. To be eligible for the Empire 8 Torchbearer Award, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior and in at least their second season of competition with their current team. Stabler, a biology major, holds a 3.97 GPA.
The No. 2-seeded Cardinals opened the Empire 8 Tournament with a 2-0 victory over SUNY Brockport in eight innings on Thursday. On Friday, Fisher suffered its first loss of the double-elimination tournament, falling 7-5 to Alfred University, before rebounding later in the day with a 2-0 win over Russell Sage College to advance to Day 3. The Cardinals defeated SUNY Geneseo 5-3 in an elimination game on Saturday before falling 3-1 to Alfred in the championship round.
Kuhn appeared in four of the Cardinals' five tournament games. Across 27 innings pitched, she allowed 29 hits and 11 runs while striking out 17 batters and issuing just one walk. She finished the tournament with a 2.85 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP.
Mahar totaled three hits, highlighted by a walk-off two-run home run against SUNY Brockport, while playing in all five of Fisher's tournament games.
Shackleton continued to pace the Cardinals' offense, batting .375 (6 for 16) with four RBI and a home run during tournament play.
