HENRIETTA, N.Y. – Sophomore Benjamin Huckans went six innings of two-hit ball while striking out six as the St. John Fisher University baseball team shut out the RIT Tigers on Wednesday, 6-0.
Freshman Luke Horton relieved Huckans and pitched a scoreless seventh, allowing a hit while striking out two, before senior Anthony Lang went the final two innings, allowing a hit and striking out four.
Senior catcher Ethan Perry led the way at the plate with two hits, including a two-RBI double in the first inning. Freshman Jackson Frey and sophomore Noah Pohrte also had two hits, with Frey notching an RBI. Junior Jimmy McArdle drove in two on an eighth-inning single. Senior James Murphy doubled.
This was the first of two games the Cardinals have with the Tigers this season- they'll play again next week.
The Cardinals, now winners of four straight, re-enter conference play on Friday, April 19, when they travel to Houghton to face the Highlanders. First pitch is 4:00 P.M.
