SANFORD, FL – The St. John Fisher University baseball team fell to No. 16 Rowan University on Saturday, 15-7, to conclude the RussMatt Invitational in Florida.
The Cardinals fell behind early but stormed back to tie the game in the fourth on a two-out grand slam by senior Jake Meeker, his first home run of the year. Fisher took a 6-5 lead on a sacrifice fly by junior Jimmy McCardle in the sixth, but couldn't get any additional runs home. Rowan responded by outscoring the Cardinals 10-1 over the last three innings to end Fisher's chances.
Senior third-baseman James Murphy led the Cardinals in hits on the day, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base. Meeker had his four RBI from the grand slam and also walked twice. McCardle, sophomore Ethan Fulton, and sophomore Benjamin Huckans had an RBI each.
Fisher returns to action on Wednesday, March 13, at Union College in Schenectady. First pitch is 2:15 P.M.
