THOUSAND OAKS, CA – The St. John Fisher University men's volleyball competed in day two of the Cal-Lu-Fornia Classic and they took on the host school, Cal-Lutheran. The Cardinals fell to the no. 6 team in the nation, 3-0 for just their third loss of the season.
Fisher fell behind early in the first set, not scoring their tenth point until they were behind 21-10, and dropped the set 25-11. The second set was competitive, with the Cardinals taking leads thanks to blocks by
Ian Rauh,
Jake Baker and
Griffin Stella. The Kingsmen were able to regain control at 11-13, but Kills by Rauh and
Casey Jackson helped even the score. However, with the set tied at 18-18, Fisher allowed six unanswered points and dropped the frame to fall behind 2-0. In the third set, Cal-Luthern once again jumped out to an early lead, going in front 15-6 before taking the set and match 25-18.
Rauh tallied six kills and two total blocks. Baker and
Sonepith Keoviengsamay each contributed five kills.
