AUBURNDALE, FL—The St. John Fisher University baseball team played against Benedictine on Tuesday before having their second game of the evening against Husson canceled due to weather. The Cardinals fell behind early and despite late scoring, they were unable to overcome the Eagles, falling 7-4.
 
Patrick McGuire got off to a solid start on the mound, striking out four of the first six batters he faced. In the third, Benedictine scored first and took advantage of a Fisher error to add a second run. The Cardinals were held to just three baserunners in seven innings, but the offense came to life in the eighth. Jake Crantz was hit by a pitch and then Brendan Bucello was walked. A couple of batters later, James Murphy was walked to load the bases and Jimmy McCardle singled through the right side to drive in the first two runs of the game. Nick Lemire later doubled to right center, scoring another two runs and cutting the deficit to 7-4. The Cardinals offense was unable add runs in the ninth and lost the game.
 
Lemire finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI. McCradle was 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. McGuire finished the day with 4.2 innings pitches, allowing three hits, five runs, two earned, and striking our four with four walks. Gabreal Roth had a strong showing in relief, tossing 2.2 innings of scoreless ball, striking out two and allowing two hits.
