PTITSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's lacrosse team were at home on Friday to take on Hartwick College in the first conference game of the season. The Cardinals scored early and often to secure an impressive 19-2 win. The result pushes their record to 3-6 on the season.
 
Fisher jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Sydney Carpenter and Hanna Kumpf each scored a brace, with Kaley Griffin, Cara Landry and Chelsea Lopata each contributing one. In the second frame, the team added five more, four of which game from Carpenter, while Griffin recorded her second. The Cardinals led 12-1 at halftime.
 
In the third quarter, Emma Biel tallied a pair of goals, while Carpenter scored her seventh of the afternoon. Ellie Leisen concluded the frame with her first of the day, pushing the teams advantage to 16-1. In the final quarter, Lopata, Dharma Makarowsky and Megan McGrath all scored and the Cardinals walked away with a 19-2 win over the Hawks.
 
Carpenter led the way with seven goals, falling just one short of tying the Fisher single-game record of eight. Lopata was second in points with six, coming off of four assists and two goals. Kaylee Gadol earned the win, playing almost 50 minutes in net and making two saves.
 
Up next for the Cardinals is a road matchup against Keuka College. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start on Wednesday, April 3.
