GENEVA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's lacrosse team traveled to William Smith College for a road game against the Herons. The Cardinals fell behind early and were unable to make a comeback against the no. 2 ranked team in the country, dropping the matchup by a final score of 16-5.
Fisher fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter and it wasn't until the start of the second quarter that
Farrah Zalla put the team on the board with an unassisted goal. A few minutes later
Mary Fiorentino added another goal in the seventh minute, but at halftime the Cardinals were down 12-2. In the second-half, Fisher scored a trio of goals starting with Zalla adding her second of the day thanks to a
Chelsea Lopata assist. A couple minutes later,
Emma Biel scored the teams fourth of the afternoon.
Dharma Makarowsky tallied her first score of the game, as the clock hit 00:00, the Cardinals fells 16-5.
Up next for the Cardinals is a home contest against Hartwick College on Friday, March 29. The Empire 8 matchup is slated for 1 4 p.m. start time.
