PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's lacrosse team played St. Lawrence University at home on Saturday. The Cardinals fell behind early and were unable to mount a comeback, falling 12-8 to the Saints.
Fisher was down 7-0 with 3:30 left to go in the second quarter when
Ethan Kesselring opened the scoring for the Cardinals after he received a pass from
Braeden McNeill and buried the chance. The end of the first half saw both teams get one goal apiece including
Brett Seaman's goal with just 16 seconds remaining in the half. At the half the Cardinals trailed 8-2.
The third quarter saw the Saints lead extended after a 4-0 scoring run; they led the Cardinals 12-2. Fisher tallied two goals late in the third just two seconds apart from
Jordan Leuze and
Matthew Kemmis. Entering the fourth quarter down 12-4 the Cardinals did not quit scoring, they recorded four straight with two from
Timmy Salit. Time ran out and the Cardinals comeback was cut short.
Kemmis, Leuze and Salit registered three points apiece with two goals and one assist each. Cardinals' goalie
Ben Hammond recorded his season high in saves with 13.
Up next Fisher will travel down to Tennessee to play Albion College on Tuesday. Faceoff is slated for 3 p.m.
