OSWEGO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Oswego State, 15-6.
The Cardinals took an early lead on the first of junior Farrah Zalla's three goals and never looked back. They led 6-3 after the first quarter and then dominated the rest of the game, outscoring the Lakers 9-3 the rest of the way. The team
Sophomore Griffin Kaley paced Fisher with four total goals. Zalla added an assist to her three goals for four total points. Junior Mary Fiorentino led all players with five points (two goals, three assists). Senior Cara Landry also had two goals, while Sydney Carpenter had a goal and three assists.
Hanna Kumpf, Alivia Nieman, and Chelsea Lopata also scored. Maddie Lowney pulled up four ground balls and won four draw controls.
Freshman Kaylee Gadol earned her first collegiate win in goal, making six saves on the day.
The Cardinals return to action on Wednesday, when they host SUNY Cortland at 4:00 P.M.
