Cardinals Defeat Roberts Wesleyan In Mid-Week Contest

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's volleyball team stayed local for an away game against Roberts Wesleyan University. The Cardinals knocked off the Redhawks 3-1 after jumping out to an early advantage. Fisher now hold a 14-1 record on the season.
 
In the first set it was Roberts Wesleyan that got started hot, taking a 7-2 lead over the Cardinals. A kill by Griffin Stella kicked off a run for Fisher that helped them capture at 15-13 advantage. The two teams began to trade points and stay even, but Jake Baker tallied a kill that kicked off a 4-0 run to secure the 25-23 set one victory. In the second frame, Baker once again began a run for Fisher that gave them an 11-6 lead. Later in the set, a 6-0 run put the team in front 19-9 and the team rode that momentum to a 25-13 set win. Despite dropping the third set, the Cardinals bounced back in the fourth, jumping out to a 12-4 lead and claiming a match victory.
 
Baker and Griffin Stella each tallied 13 kills to lead the team. Ian Rauh also finished with double-digit kills, tallying 12 kills with a .688 hitting percentage. Gavin Newman distributed well, concluding the match with 46 assists.
