ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomores Paul Lichter (157 pounds) and Jackson Burns (285 pounds) came in fourth in their weight classes on Saturday as the St. John Fisher wrestling team (94 team points) placed seventh overall at the 58th RIT Invitational on Saturday at Gordon Field House. 

Williams College amassed 155.5 team points to win the event. Wesleyan (153, second), RIT (123.5, third), Case Western Reserve (116.0, fourth) and Oneonta (107.0, fifth) rounded out the top five on the team leaderboard. 

Lichter beat Hunter Savitz (Penn State Behrend) by technical fall, Borese Antropov (RIT) by pin and  Ryley Monica (Oneonta State) by decision before falling 8-5 by decision Tyler Rossini (Oswego State) in the 157-pound semifinals. He beat Ronnie Christolin (Wesleyan) by decision in the consolation semis and lost the third-place match by major decision to Thomas Wagner (Case Western Reserve). 

Burns pinned his first three opponents –  Nick Baco (Brockport), Charles Rosenthal (Oneonta) and  Kenny Jackson (Oneonta) – to reach the 285-pound semifinals, where he lost to Josh Harkless (RIT) by major decision. Burns rebounded in the consolation semifinals with another pin (Josh Lanka, RIT) before defaulting the third-place bout. 

Sophomore Dylan Devine placed sixth at 165 pounds. Sophomore Daniel Parkulo (125 pounds) and freshman Trevor Bishop (141 pounds) placed sixth in their respective weight classes. 

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Utica Tri-Match. They will face Utica and Elmira College in dual meets (times TBD).
