PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team (2-0) shot better than 45% from 3-point range as it completed the opening weekend of the 2024-25 season with a 73-63 victory over Chatham University in the Chatham Tournament.

St. John Fisher took control of the game in the second quarter 14-0 run. The Cardinals outscored Chatham 21-10 in that quarter and took a 45-29 lead into halftime.

Senior guard Sidney Tomasso, the reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year, led the Cardinals in scoring in both of their games in the tournament. She had 21 points while shooting 8 of 17 overall, 3 of 7 from 3-point range and 2 of 2 from the foul line against Chatham.

Tomasso scored 50 points and shot nearly 50% from the field over two games in the tournament. Tomasso also pulled down 18 rebounds (10 on Friday and eight on Saturday).

Junior guard Presleigh Brunner made a team-high four 3-pointers (six attempts) and scored 18 points, her most in a game since she had 19 in a win over Marymount in the NCAA Tournament as a freshman.

The Cardinals shot 10 of 22 from 3-point range (45.5%) as a team. Chatham shot just 22.2% from beyond the arc.

Brunner, Tomasso and junior guard Hannah Ferguson each had eight rebounds.

Ferguson also led the Cardinals and set a career-high with eight assists.

Senior guard Emily McLaughlin scored 11 points and tied her career high with three steals.
