ERIE, Pa. – Two Penn State Behrend players scored 20 points as the Lions (2-1) handed the St. John Fisher women's basketball team (2-1) its first loss of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday night at Junker Center Gym.
The Cardinals trailed 21-12 after one quarter and couldn't climb back into it. The Lions scored 27 second-chance points on 21 offensive rebounds and finished with a 14-point edge in the paint in the 84-60 victory.
Senior guard Sidney Tomasso led the Cardinals in scoring for the third straight game. She finished with 16 points on 5 of 16 shooting (2 of 3 from three) and went 4 of 6 from the foul line. The reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year also led the Cardinals in rebounds (7) and steals (3).
Senior guard Katie Moravec scored 14 points while shooting 4 of 9 overall and 6 of 7 from the foul line. Sophomore forward Alexa Gibson had 10 points on 5 of 9 shooting.
Penn State Behrend's Alaina Fabin and Rachel Majewski each scored 20 points. Fabin shot 10 of 11 overall, while Majewski went 7 of 17 from the field, 3 of 6 from deep and 3 of 6 at the free-throw stripe. Fabin led the Lions with nine rebounds.
